L. Gene Huddleson

Gene has been in the event business for over 20 years taking him all over the United States and Europe. He was chosen as a vice presidential residence holiday designer in 1995 and 1996. Gene developed an event company like no other in central Indiana offering corporate and wedding planning along with a complete floral and décor department. Gene opened Exterior and Interior design divisions to Detail+Design in 2005 adding new energetic divisions to the company.

Gene is often a contributor to local and international publications with his work appearing in Wedding Day Magazine, Wedding Planner Magazine, Special Event Magazine as well as Martha Stewart Weddings. His worked had earned him over 100 awards locally and internationally.

Gene feels giving back to the community is key to a well balanced life. His company regularly gives to over 10 charities each year. Gene sits on the advisory board to Special Events Magazine and is a past president for the International Special Events Society – Indiana and remains a constant advisor and supporter of the organization.

 

Kari Strolberg, CSEP

Kari’s expertise lies in the management and production of large civic events, award winning corporate events, and fundraisers. Her production credits include high-profile events such as the Komen Indianapolis Race for the Cure, the 2ndlargest walk/run in Indiana; Mickey’s Camp and Mickey’s Camp for Women, which has raised over two million dollars for local charities since 2001; the Harvest Moon Gala, an annual gala and auction for Gleaners; and in 2011 she chaired the Indy Super Cure Gala that raised one million dollars for the Komen Tissue Bank. These events, coupled with many others, such as the Hands on Hundred Program for The Special Event Conference and Tradeshow, and Big Red Bash for the Little Red Door Cancer Agency have earned her national recognition and industry awards.

In 2003, Kari became a Certified Special Event Professionals (CSEP). This designation is given through the International Special Events Society, of which she is a past board President. Kari is also the co-author of Exceptional Events: Concepts to Completion, a special events textbook printed in 2001, she was named to IBJ’s list of “Who’s Who in Hospitality” in 2003, she was listed as a “Indy’s Best and Brightest” nominee in 2008 and named to IBJ’s “40 Under 40” in 2009.

Syanda Feist

Syanda began working in the special events industry in 2011 when she was hired by a local event rental company to assist with sales and customer service. By taking a hands on approach to learning the basics of the audio visual rentals the company provided for local events, she quickly learned the importance of production management and communication in the events industry. In 2013 Detail + Design offered Syanda an opportunity to become a part of their team where she was able to become more involved in the planning of special events. Syanda has assisted with the planning and production of galas for several Indianapolis based nonprofit organizations such as Laughing Matters for Cancer Support Community and the Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Awards. She has worked with the Hands on Hundred Program for The Special Events Conference and Tradeshow where she has managed volunteers for internationally recognized event planners and designers. In 2014, Syanda chaired the Indiana Special Events Society PACE Awards recognizing the best of the best in Indianapolis special events.

Michael W. King

Mike has worked in various capacities of design, holding a degree in Landscape Horticulture and Design from Purdue University. As General Manager, Mike brings a variety of skills to the Detail + Design team. His background includes working in the areas of space design and layout, graphic design for mailings, print ads and printed materials, website maintenance and design, floral design and production, general prop design and construction, wood working, event logistics and staffing, planning and set-up/strike management. In addition, Mike also manages the warehouse, updating and maintaining the inventory and helping manage the office to keep things operating smoothly. Mike oversees the installation and set-up of all events and ensures that every detail will be attended to. Having worked in the special events industry for over a decade, he is skilled with the organization of minor and major events and the details that make them a success. Mike is an active member of the Indiana Chapter of ILEA, having held various roles, including President.

Mike is also co-owner of Detail + Design Residential, offering full-service interior and exterior design and implementation, specializing in custom home renovations and creating outdoor living spaces. Mike has been with Detail + Design for over 10 years and continues to grow with the company, always looking for a new challenge.

 

Darcie Kornmeyer

In 1998 Darcie attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a goal of designing window displays at Barney’s. Like many so many other professionals in the wedding planning industry, Darcie never imagined her education would lead her to where she is today. A chance opportunity to help assist a local wedding planner allowed her the unique ability to integrate her experience at FIT with the couple’s personal style and preferences into one of the most important events in their life. After just one wedding, she was hooked. For over a decade, Darcie has been planning and creating unique and personal weddings for Indianapolis couples. She believes the smallest details add the greatest impact and she works with her couple’s to ensure each element is carefully crafted extension of their vision. From linens, to lighting, to stationary, to time lines and coordination, her knowledge of color, design, and budgets is invaluable to the planning couple.

Darcie has planned every kind of wedding from intimate gatherings to large social affairs for some of Indianapolis’ high profile families. Her experience at some of the city’s top event venues ensures she’ll successfully coordinate any wedding no matter the size, detail or design needs.

Katina Tooley

Katina began her career in event planning in 2005 after 15 years in the Interior Design field and is the owner of Eclectic Events & Design, LLC.  She founded Factory 12 Event Loft in 2007, giving Columbus, IN a unique venue the town had never seen.  Over the past years, Katina has coordinated & designed many wonderful weddings along with corporate events for Baldwin & Lyons, Columbus Regional Hospital, Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce and Cummins Engine Company.

She is a Professional Wedding Planner with the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC), served as a Co-Volunteer Coordinator with Wish Upon a Wedding Indianapolis Chapter in 2010-2011, an active member of the International Live Events Association (ILEA), served as the ILEA Director at Large of Strategic Alliances from 2008-2010 and was a ILEA PACE Award winner from 2012-2015.

Katina is continuously creating new goals in her professional career. When a partnership was presented to join Detail + Design, she knew it was an opportunity of a lifetime.  She is excited about her upcoming weddings and events in the Indianapolis, Southern Indiana and Louisville areas.  She also looking forward to working in Detail + Design’s Residential division and collaborating with the team on interior design projects. Katina loves all aspects of planning events & designing interiors, it brings her great joy knowing her clients are truly happy.
